I finally cut a quote to put of one of my walls. This vinyl decal is in our family room above the couch. It took me forever to decide what quote I wanted to use ;) I knew whatever the quote would be, I wanted to surround it with some of my favorite photos printed in black and white. So, after I painted the walls, this is the finished design! I am thrilled with how it turned out!

One of my favorite things about summer is that is when I get to go to the beach :) We usually go to Sanibel Island, FL. I am sharing one of my favorite photos I took of my daughter and my son's girlfriend from this years vacation. This photo speaks volumes to me. I hope you enjoy!

I finally decorated one of the walls in my scrapbook room with a little bit of vinyl. I have had this roll of re-positionable vinyl for awhile and I am just now cutting something for my room. I love working with vinyl! All of the vinyl work I do is for making signs, car decals, etc. So, this was a lot of fun for me. The possibilities are endless with re-positionable vinyl!

Also, I have added a new premade scrapbook layout to my Etsy store here.

It is been so long since I have updated my blog! But, I am back!!!

I do not have my website anymore. However, I am still selling some items that I make on Etsy which can be found here. Take a look, you will find new and some "old" items.

I just want to share a few scrapbook pages and cards that I have made.

I know everyone still has tons of pictures from the summer, this 2-page layout is perfect for some of your summer pictures!!

New card technique, for me ;)

I still consider myself inexperienced in the card making craft. I am always amazed at the talent of so many of the ladies creations I see on the Splitcoast Stampers message board. There is one technique I have seen so many do that I have always wanted to try. So, this weekend I gave it a try.

Below, is my first try at paper piecing using a stamped image. I used one of my new My Favorite Things stamp sets. I cut the umbrella out, colored it with my Prisma pencils. I also covered it with diamond glaze and sprinkled very fine glitter on it to add a touch of bling. Once it dried I used pop up dots to give a 3-d effect.

The next one, I used the same stamps but used patterned paper for the umbrella.

My 365 project

It has been awhile since I have posted... But, I have been busy keeping up with my scrapbook goal I made this year. I have a goal to complete 365 scrapbook pages this year and so far I have completed 60 pages!! I am sharing a few that I have finished in the last few days. Most of them are made using supplies from kits! I love kits! They save so much time because a lot of them have everything you need to create 4 - 6 layouts and everything co-ordinates.

I finally used my new electronic die cut machine and created the title and flower border used on the layout below called Silly Girls

I hope you enjoy these pages! As you can see, most of the time I am a make simple scrapbook layouts. Most of these pages were created in 15 -20 min. However, sometimes I may spend 1 - 2 hrs on a layout that may have lots of embellishments.

I also wanted to share some of the scrapbook pages I completed for my January goal. My goal was to complete 31 pages. I actually completed 39! These are very simple layouts. I really don't have a set style. Some of my pages I complete have more embellishments than others. Sometimes I stamp on them. Plus, I like to add bling to some.

Below is a 2 page layout I completed using Crate paper and embellishments from this kit.
The Valentine layout I used an old kit I had from Leaving Prints.
In 1996 I went to the Final Four in New York when Kentucky beat Syracuse. The below photos are from a pre-game party we went to before the first game. That is me with the Wildcat ; ) I am going way back trying to get caught up on scrapbooking! The CATS words I made using my diecut machine.

Winter Storm in Kentucky

I am back! What a week it has been! We got hit hard by the ice storm. Our power was restored last night. Woo hoo!! There are still several without power and/ or water. We were fortunate to have a generator that helped us stay warm by plugging it into the blower on our wood stove (which stopped working after a couple of days) But, we still had a source of heat. We also were able to have TV to be able to keep up with the local news and updates. I am sharing a few pictures of my yard and some of the damage. There is debris everywhere! But that's OK, I know it could be worse. We are expecting bad weather at the beginning of this coming week. Hopefully it won't be as bad....

The picture below is part of my back yard during the ice storm.

Below is a picture taken today of the same area in my yard as above. The temperature finally got above freezing today!

This picture is another tree in my yard during the storm. The picture below it is the same tree after the storm.

One thing I like about this picture if this holly bush is some of the ice cycles are sideways! Below the holly bush is one of the pine trees in my yard. Half of it is gone!

These pictures is just a sample of my yard! We have a lot of clean up to do. But that's OK. Cleaning up our property is nothing compared to what others have to deal with. There are people that lost their life during this storm. Prayers to their families.

On the lighter side, I did complete my January scrapbook goal. I completed 39 scrapbook pages. 326 to go! I sat in the kitchen scrapbooking by the window during the day so I could see ;)

I have added 2 more premade scrapbook pages to the store. I must say, I love both of them! The colors are beautiful in of both of these layouts.

The first one is called Cherish and can be found here in the store.

The second one is called You Make Me Smile and can be found here.

I am also sharing a 2 page layout of my own for my Project 365. It is a huge project to complete. But, remember you don't have to complete 365 pages this year if you choose not to. Completing 10, 20 or even 30 pages can be your goal. It is my goal to help and encourage you to preserve your memories. Regardless of the quantity of pages you complete.

Keep in mind the pages don't necessarily need photos. But if you have them, that is great. Also, the things you scrap about don't have to be about all the fun times.

For example:

My son had surgery last week, I have a photo of him in pre-op. Blue cap and all!

I also plan to scrap about some of the funny things he said before surgery.

Get where I am going? This was not one of the most pleasant events but it was a huge event for us that is on going.

Project 365 Journal

Also, if you google Project 365, you will find tons of ideas. Remember, these pages don't necessarily have to include a picture. Happy New Year!!

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope it brings you health and happiness.

Plus, I want to thank my customers for trusting in me to provide you with premade scrapbook pages and supplies to help you preserve your memories!

Also, I am sharing with you one of my goals for 2009. I am not a new years resolution type person, I set goals. One of my goals is to scrapbook for my self more. I have publicly committed to making 365 scrapbook pages for myself on Splitcoast Stampers and at Scrapbiz. Hopefully with me "saying it out load" will be me complete this goal. I am such a huge believer in scrapbooking and why we do it. I have gotten behind on my own personal scrapbooks because I have been so focused on my business. So here I go.....

I am also starting Project 365. It is the new Becky Higgins project. I am not purchasing her kit, I am going to complete this project my own way ;) But, it is a great project. I know this year will be huge for my family. My oldest and only daughter will start college this year and my youngest and only son will become a Senior in high school. So I really want to make sure I don't miss a thing!

Now, to share with you how well I have done so far.

I completed 2 scrapbook pages today! This one is called Skeet Shootin at Skeeter's farm. I used my stash to complete these layouts. I also cut the title using my die cut machine then inked it.

As for the Project 365, I have taken a few pictures and we went to watch a movie tonight so I have the ticket stubs from that.

I want to offer some tips/ideas to help you with what ever type of scrapbooking goal you may have for this year. If you don't have a goal, now is a good time to start.

1. Always, always have a camera with you! I just got a new Nikon Coolpix to carry in my purse. I have a Nikon D40 SLR and it is way to big to have with me all the time. So my Coolpix is perfect.

2. Keep in mind, events that you can scrapbook do necessarily have to have include pictures. For example, ticket stubs from movies, receipts from dinner, journal about how something that happened that day, get where I am going?

3. Weather your scrapbook style is simple or "fancy". It does not matter. Create your own style.

I will continue post tips and suggestions, so watch for updates!

Trying to step it up a notch.....

I love making cards! But mine are so blah. So, I am trying to step it up a notch and improve my card making skills. So, I am sharing a few of the cards I have made within the last week or so.

This card was made using My Favorite Things stamps. I colored the image using Prisma Color pencils and blended the color with odorless mineral spirits. I am not sure what the cardstock is.This next stamp is also from My Favorite Things. I colored it the same way but I also used a fiskars punch for the small border and diamond glaze for the "puddle" around the doxie.

This card was made using stamps from The Angel Company. The paper is some really, really old vellum from Chatterbox! I knew I would use it some day ; )

New Premade Scrapbook Layouts!!

Good evening!! It has been raining all night here and I have been busy working on some new premade layouts to add the store! It is a good night for scrapbooking!

The first layout below is called Oh Happy Day. The colors are so bright and fun! One thing that is different about this 2 page layout is, I used stamps to accent one of the pages. This is a first for me to use stamped images in one of my layouts!! Plus, I also enhanced the stamped image with diamond glaze!

Also, this layout is called Rough and Tough. This will be perfect for all of you that have little boys! or I guess it would work for girls also ;)

The next one is called Give Thanks. I used Crate paper for this layout! The colors are simply beautiful!! Plus, I love the texture of Crate Paper! This is just in time for your Thanksgiving photos!

Christmas Cards

I am loving my new scraproom!!! I am finding some things I need to help with my organization ; ) I know it will take me some time to get used to it and arrange things better to help me get more projects completed. But, over the last few fays as I have been working in my new room I do know of some simple fixes that I can get at Walmart! So that is a good thing. But the #1 thing is new light!! I have been in there for awhile tonight, also, making more Christmas cards. I just received some new stamps sets from Gina K and I am having a blast with them!! I love her stamps! They are so much fun to work with plus Gina K rocks! on top of that, they have the best customer service!!

Anyway, I want to share a couple of simple cards I made using some of my new stamps. The Sandy Claws one is a Gina K stamp. I colored the image with Prisma pencils and blended with mineral spirits. I used stickles on the hat a sleigh to add bling. I love using stickles!!

The poinsettia is another Gina K stamp. I used gold stickles and prisma pencils and mineral spirits to blend once again. Love mineral spirits!! Also, I added a layer of diamond glaze on the leafs which unfortunately is hard to see in my pictures. I really need to work on taking better pictures of my projects, they always look much better than the pictures actually show!

Christmas time is coming...

We have have entered into November so that means Christmas is right around the corner! I have been so busy making Christmas cards and such. I just wanted to share a few things I have created.

These are ornaments that I made. I used clear glass ornaments from Hobby Lobby. The logos are cut with my KNK die cut machine using vinyl. How cute are these?

Below is an ornament I made with our school football logo on it. BTW, I will get personal here. Our football team is 9-0 right now!!! My son and daughter are members of this football team in different ways. If you are wondering, my daughter is a manager : ) Go Rebels!!!

This is another ornament I made for another local school.

Plus, I have been making Christmas cards that I am sharing with you here. They are simple cards and some of the products I used can be found in my store. These cards are made using stamps are from Autumn Leaves that are on sale here and stickles. I just love stickles, I use them on almost every card I have made since I have discovered them because they are so much fun and easy to use!

Family Premade scrapbook page!

I have added a new 2 page premade scrapbook layout to the store. This one is called Family and was created using Adornit's patterned paper, foam letters and 3-D flower embellishments. There are 6- 4x6" mats for photos and/or journaling. The phrase inside the 3-round tag reads, " Home is where your story begins". The brown, green and blue colors are beautiful together!

Within the next few days I will share pictures of some of the cards I made on National Card Making day! I am trying to get started on my Christmas cards. I have been lacking in that department the last few years. But hopefully this year I can get back on track!

Since the cardstock has a little bling on it, I applied Diamond Glaze to the die cuts then sprinkled fine glitter on the wet Diamond Glaze to add more bling to match the cardstock.

Campaign for Real Scrapping

I am joining Kim Guymon , http://www.kimguymon.com/ owner of Scrapbiz, in the Campaign for Real Scrapbooking. I think too often people forget about the purpose of scrapbooking. To preserve memories and tell the story that goes along with the photos. I have always considered myself a “simple” scrapbooker and have always tried to create my pages in the way that the photos are seen first, not all the embellishments surrounding the photos. Of coarse I love embellishments! I own my share of them and I do use them on my pages! But, don’t let them be the focal point of the page. It is rare for me to create a page with one photo on it. But I have done it and will probably continue to so for special photos. I am like many others, if I just added one photo per page, I would not be able to find the space in my home to store them! But, my goal is to get my photos in albums. I admit, I do need to improve the story part of it.

I want to share Kim’s steps to Real Scrapbooking. I think this list is a great way to get back to Real Scrapbooking.

Focus on the photos
Add the stories and not just the names - limit the use of third-party quotes.
Crop conservatively - Grandma's house in the background may be precious someday
Use themed products - match photos to products
Keep the page simple - don't overwhelm the photos with embellishments
Use imperfect photos if that's all you have. Not every photo will be stunning.
Reject time-consuming embellishment techniques
Worry LESS about acid and MORE about history.
Spend less time doctoring photos and more time scrapping
Find your passion again!

With the encouragement of some of my Scrapbiz friends, I have decided to create this blog!

I sell scrapbook products at the Danville, Ky Peddlers Mall, booth 227. With this blog, I plan to post updates on my business announcing new product arrivals, specials, etc.

Coming in September I will have an online store open for business!!! I am very excited about this new adventure!! I plan to offer a variety of products including page kits of various sizes. So watch for announcements!
